PK's Shakespeare Marathon
May 7th, 2006
On May 7th, we headed down to Stratford-Upon-Avon which is Shakespeare's hometown so PK could run in the Shakespeare Marathon. Stratford-Upon-Avon is a beautiful town with a river that meanders through the town centre. There are many quaint shops and a few of the houses Shakespeare lived in. The race does a small loop near the city centre, then does a big loop out into the coutnryside. The half-marathoners do the loop once and the full marathoners do it twice.

PK did a GREAT job and finished the 26.2 mile course - his 1st marathon ever! I made sure I was at the halfway point to cheer him on and give him a fresh drink. Chad Chaffee, Kathy Hughes and a friend of Chad's Zeb, ran the half marathon that day as well. We cheered the guys (and Kathy) as they ran by and at the finish. Thankfully, it was sunny/partly cloudy during the race. The forcast had been for rain! CJ has not mastered the leash and a marathon is a long time for him to be on the leash, so he stayed home and welcomed Paul home with a big wet kiss.
Almost there!
The group before the pain begins--
Kathy, PK, Chad and Zeb
The last .1 mile!!
...at this point PK was just ready for a hot bath, massage and some good food!!!
