Maharashtra Probationary Naib Tahasildars

Departmental Examination Rules-2000.

In exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to Article 309 of the Constitution of India and in supersession of all existing rules , orders or instruments issued in this behalf and inforce in the state or any part thereof, the Governor of Maharashtra is hereby pleased to make the following rules regulating the Departmental examination for Probationary Naib Tahasildars, under the Revenue and Forest Department of the Government of Maharashtra, namely:-

  1. These rules may be called the Maharashtra Probationary Naib Tahasildars Departmental Examination Rules-2000.
  2. In these rules, unless context otherwise requires,

  1. "Appendix" means appendix to these rules
  2. "Commission" means the Maharashtra Public Service Commission.
  3. "Examination" means the Government of Maharashtra.
  4. "Probationary Naib Tahasildar" means a person who has passed the competitive examination held by the Commission and nominated as Naib Tahasildar on probation perio0d by Government.
  1. Every probationary Naib Tahasildar is required to pass the examination during the two years probation period and within three chances.
  2. Provided that, in exceptional circumstances, Government may in its discretion grant not more than two extra chances to appear for the examination by extending the period of probation. However, in any circumstances such period may be extended for not more than one year.

  3. Every probationary Naib Tahasildar has to pass the examination, otherwise he shall be liable to be discharged from the service.
  4. The examination shall, be conducted by the Commission twice every year in the month of April and October. The candidates will be allowed to answer the papers in Marathi or English.
  5. The syllabus for the examination will be as specified in the Appendix "A" or as directed by the Government from time to time.
  6. The standard of passing the examination in each Head shall be 50 percent of the total number for that had.
  7. Any candidate who appears in all heads at one and the same examination but fails to obtain minimum number of marks for passing in only one head shall be entitled to have his deficiency condoned under that head if the deficiency does not exceed five percent of the total marks obtainable under that head.
  8. Any unsuccessful candidate who has obtained sixty percent or more number of marks obtainable under any head shall be exempted from appearing again in that head, in any subsequent examination or examinations.
  9. Provided that for claming the exemption for that head, probationary Naib Tahasildar shall make written application before appearing for the subsequent examination.

    Provided further that, if no such written application is made, it will be presumed that the candidate does not desire to claim any such exemption.

  10. A Probationary Naib Tahasildar who passes this examination in first attempt and obtain 70% or more marks in any of the head, this credit point shall be mentioned in his confidential report.
  11. A Probationary Naib Tahasildar who wishes to appear for the examination, shall apply to Government through the Commissioner in Form prescribed in Appendix ‘B’.
  12. Every nominated Naib Tahasildar, during his probation shall be appointed under the Revenue Commissioner, and job training shall be imparted to him, under supervision of Revenue Commissioner in accordance with the orders issued in this behalf by the Government.

There shall be three subject sections i.e. Revenue, Judicial and Accounts for the purpose of Departmental Examination for the Probationary Naib Tahasildar.

  1. Revenue section comprises four papers and each paper carries 100 marks.
  2. Judicial section comprises one paper for 100 marks.
  3. Accounts Section comprises one paper for 100 marks.
