Winterton 'A' v Drayton 'A' 20th June 2009

Drayton 'A' 189-8 Winterton 'A' 59-1 RAIN- abandoned A match which will be remembered for a Drayton mid-innings collapse, the usual splendid 'Fisherman's Return' tea and rain which interrupted and eventually washed out the match.

Drayton's innings got off to another good start: Mike Sutton (38) and Nigel Massingham (33) putting on a stand of 86. Thereafter Drayton fell under the spell of some accurate and seriously slow bowling, particularly from Drake (4-23). Saul Simpson (20 not out) organised a later revival, with Jamie Scarff and Ravi Dave both contributing sixes.

When Winterton batted, Spelman (whose father played with or against several of the older-timers in the Drayton team) took a liking to anything leg side and moved to 34 not out before the heavens opened and stayed open.RT
