Drayton v Ketteringham Hall 20th June 2009

Ketteringham Hall 193-9. Match Abandoned. Rain. Saturday's weather forecast suggested that a light shower may crop up over Norwich - however the first team's game against Ketteringham Hall was abandoned after the fourth rain break shortly after 5pm.

Drayton had lost the toss, and predictably were asked to bowl. M. Smith and Sprong gave Hall a sprightly start, and the initial break for rain did little to assist Drayton as the bowlers struggled to grip the ball and one struggled with his run up as he hasn't got spikes (buy some - you know who you are!). Phil Soanes made the breakthrough with the score on 69 - Sprong picking out Robert Reeve (managing to stay on his feet....) on the long on boundary. Further accumulation followed between M. Smith and R. Smith, before in the 26th over, Andy Denny dived to take a splendid catch to dismiss M. Smith for 43.

Thereafter runs were scored and wickets snapped up at regular intervals - as the visitors had reached 193-9 with 15 balls remaining of their innings when play was called off. For Drayton, Gary Foreman took 3-38, Robert Reeve (benefitting from the drier run up) took 3-44, whilst Howard Davies snaffled four catches behind the stumps - plus there was even time for Andy Hawes to effect a run out with a direct hit. Next week Drayton have the long trip to Walmer Road to play Kirkley Sports.
