Drayton v Caister 10th May 2009
Caister 226-2 Drayton 143
An extremely youthful Drayton side (containing six teenagers)- succombed to a more worldly wise Caister side on Sunday. As per the previous day, the pitch remained flat and the outfield fast, and whilst Drayton's bowlers were put to the sword none were disgraced. Ryan Pointer bowled a lively opening spell of six overs, Tom Barnes took his first wicket for the club and Fraser Dobson conceded just one boundary as he found some genuine in swing to the right handed batsmen. In the field, debutant Dan Lockwood showed his fearlessness in making some brave stops whilst young wicketkeeper Tom Cooke gave an impressive unfussy display
In reply Drayton were soon well behind the run rate but several of the younger batsmen gave good accounts of themselves - Tom Radford (9), Cooke (7) and Dobson (8) all being dismissed when looking set for a bigger contribution. Nigel Massingham (16) was caught attempting one lusty blow too many, and it was therefore left to Rob Raven (21), captain Jason Trett (52 not out) and Warren Kedge to show cool heads and take Drayton to 5 batting points.
