AFTER THE PHANTOM MENACE --

FUGITIVES

Darth Maul parried the lightsaber blow, slamming the handle of his own weapon against the Jedi's chest, knocking him over a round table. The second Jedi slashed down at Maul, green lightsaber humming shrilly. Maul smashed the blade aside, swinging his left boot into the man's belly. The first Jedi regained his feet, hurled himself at Maul. Maul kept both Jedi at bay, both red blades of his lightsaber countering their slashes and stabs. A blaster report cracked in the bar, and one of the Jedi grimaced, falling to the floor. The Jedi's back was a smoking ruin, Maul managed a quick glance toward the far side of the bar, where Yane hid behind an overturned table, blaster pistol in her right hand. She winked at Maul, and he smiled before concentrating on the remaining Jedi, performing a spinning jump backwards onto the bar counter, then launching himself over the Jedi to land behind the man. Maul stabbed backward with his lightsaber, punching through the Jedi's spine. The Jedi grunted, collapsing to the alcohol-drenched floor.

Maul de-activated his lightsaber blades, struggling for breath. Yane rushed to Maul's side, wrapped her right arm around his waist.

"Are you hurt?" asked the girl with a frightened expression.

"No," smiled Maul, stroking Yane's right cheek with a gloved finger. "But we better leave, more Jedi will be on the way."

Maul and Yane left the bar, melding into the crowd of the busy spaceport. They made their way back to Maul's Infiltrator and boarded the darkened starship.

"Are the supplies loaded?" asked Maul, taking his place in the pilot's chair.

"Yes, they should last us until we reach the Outer Rim border," replied Yane, sitting to Maul's right.

"Good," nodded Maul. "Prepare for take-off."

The Infiltrator's engines purred to life. The lithe craft rose on its repulsor-lifts, slashing through the night sky towards the glittering panorama of space.

Kymel gazed over the wreckage, hands on hips. Janna walked slowly around the wrecked bar, eyes closed, senses open to the Force.

"How long ago did this occur?" asked Kymel, her black hair veiling the left side of her beautiful face.

"Four days ago, Mistress Jedi," replied the human bartender nervously, warily eyeing Kymel's tan Jedi robes and visible lightsaber.

"Are you picking up anything, Janna?" inquired Kymel.

"Yes, they're still heading for the frontier," murmured Janna, closed eyes tilted toward the ceiling.

"Thank you for your time," said Kymel, tossing a Republic credit chit onto the bar counter.

"Will they make it into unknown space? We'll lose them if they do," reminded Kymel while she walked beside Janna along the bustling street.

"I think they'll have to stop one more time. The Force says that it will be on Gehenna V."

"We'll barely make it on full power, we'll have to hurry," frowned Kymel.

"Yes," agreed Janna with a brief nod of her blonde head.

The Infiltrator screamed through Hyperspace, allowing Maul and Yane a short time to rest. They lay entwined upon their bed, naked as they kissed and caressed each other. Maul slid down Yane's slim body, held her thighs apart while he licked her tender cunt. Yane bit her lower lip, moaning softly as Maul sucked on her clit, flicked his tongue inside her moist slit. The short horns on Maul's forehead combed through Yane's small bush of red pubic hair, his mouth working on her shivering pussy. Maul covered Yane's nude body with his, he clasped her hands with his fingers as he slowly entered her cunt with his member, groaning when her vagina tightened around his shaft. Maul kissed the side of Yane's neck, smoothly thrusting into her belly, pounding between her bent legs. Yane held onto Maul's strong neck, shoving up with her pelvis, forcing Maul's cock deeper into her slick vagina. Yane and Maul kissed hungrily, driven by lust, their bodies crashing against each other. Yane arched her back, shuddering from her orgasm. Maul held onto the girl's small waist, stabbing into her pussy, his cock engorging, then squirting his cum into Yane's young womb.

Maul rested over Yane, gently squeezing her quivering right breast. She smiled, kissing his cool lips, tracing a finger around one of his temple horns. They fell asleep, warm in each other's arms, the ship quiet as it knifed through Hyperspace.

*****

Gehenna V was a barren moon that barely had a breathable atmosphere. Since it was one of the last outposts of civilization along the Outer Rim border, a gathering of domes had been built for traders and merchants supplying the explorers and criminals heading out for unknown space.

The Infiltrator dove through the thin atmosphere of the moon, lining up to pass through one of the larger dome's hanger ports. The sleek grey craft passed through the hanger's magnetic field, hovering on repulsors until it was directed into an open landing bay. Maul locked the ship down while Yane belted on her weapon belt with blaster and vibro-knife.

"We must be watchful, the Jedi will try to stop us here," said Maul, hugging Yane against him.

The girl clung to Maul, closing her eyes with pleasure. "Don't worry, I'll watch your back."

"I never doubted it," smiled Maul, kissing Yane's red mane. "Let's get our supplies and go."

*****

"There they are," nodded Kymel, hiding her face behind her glass.

"Do we engage them in the market or when they return to their ship?" asked Janna.

"Get the girl away from him, I'll take him down when he returns to his ship," ordered Kymel, draining her glass before standing abruptly and leaving the open-air cafe.

**

Maul was purchasing ration packs when Yane spotted a booth selling bolts of cloth. The girl wandered to the stall, admiring the beautiful fabrics, running her fingers over the sleek material.

"You like?" asked the alien trader.

"Yes, I could make a nice gown with this," grinned Yane, stroking the shimmering red-gold fabric in her arms.

"I offer you good price," nodded the alien eagerly.

While Yane and the trader haggled, Janna strode up behind the girl and rested her hand lightly on Yane's left shoulder.

"Come with me," commanded Janna, bolstering her voice with the Force.

Yane lowered the cloth and followed the blonde Jedi without complaint.

**

"Yane?" called Maul, receipt clutched in his right hand, eyes scanning the booths and the crowd. When he failed to spot Yane, Maul became fearful, he opened himself to the Force, scanned for the young girl.

"We have her," said Kymel, striding up to the distraught man.

"What do you want?" snarled Maul, right hand lowering to his belted lightsaber.

"You, of course," smiled Kymel coldly. "Let's go to your ship, where we can talk in private."

Maul clenched his right hand into a fist. He led the Jedi away from the market, anger building within him.

**

When Maul and Kymel entered the empty hanger, Yane and Janna were already waiting for them by the Infiltrator.

"We'll take your ship, the Republic will be interested in examining it, I'm sure. I've never seen such a design," remarked Kymel, pushing Maul ahead of her.

Maul looked at Yane, anguished to see her in the Jedi's thrall. Yane glanced at Maul, her face contorted into a deep frown.

"Maul?" murmured Yane.

"Let's go!" snapped Janna, pushing the girl towards the waiting starship.

The Jedi's hold broke with the sight of her love, Yane drew her knife, switched it on before plunging it into Janna's stomach. The Jedi staggered back, eyes wide with agony, fingers struggling to free her lightsaber.

Maul summoned his lightsaber from Kymel's belt, snapped it on and slashed at the astonished Jedi. Kymel jumped back, one of Maul's blades slicing down her left leg. She grunted, igniting her own lightsaber, blocking Maul's next slice for her neck.

Yane fought with her pistol holster, clumsily attempting to free her weapon while Janna activated her lightsaber. The golden energy blade hissed forward, impaled Yane in the stomach. Yane whimpered, weapon forgotten as she fell bonelessly to the ground.

Maul glanced back to check on Yane, his golden eyes widening while he watched the girl fall like a broken doll. Rage welled inside Maul, consumed his mind.

"YANE!" screamed Maul, smashing his right foot into Kymel's chest, hurling the woman off her feet.

Maul performed a running jump, spinning to land in front of Janna. The blonde woman barely parried Maul's strike towards her head, she backed away, clutching her bleeding stomach with her free hand. Maul attacked relentlessly, switching from blade to blade, cutting and lunging at the struggling Jedi. Weak from blood loss, Janna blocked just a moment too slowly, Maul slashed with his weapon, hacking through the Jedi's waist. Janna's torso fell away, crashed wetly to the hanger floor.

Kymel howled at Maul, jump kicking him in the sternum. Maul flew back, the air knocked from his lungs. Kymel's face was ugly with hate, she slammed her lightsaber against Maul's, beating at his weakening defenses. Maul spun his double-bladed weapon, forced Kymel's lightsaber up while he kicked her legs out from under her. Kymel rolled, Maul stabbing down repeatedly with his hissing blade. Kymel smacked Maul's lightsaber aside, punched the tip of her blade into his right leg just below the knee. Maul roared, kicking Kymel with his left foot, smashing her nose into a bloody ruin.

Maul and the Jedi separated, Kymel wiping her bleeding nose, Maul limping, keeping his weight off his wounded leg. They both raised their glowing weapons, then charged each other, howling with hatred. Maul slammed one of his blades through Kymel's heart, the lightsaber exploding out her back. Kymel impaled Maul's belly, making him shiver violently. Maul and the Jedi fell off each other's blades, Kymel collapsing onto the floor, Maul swaying on numb legs.

Maul wiped blood off his lips, staggered to where Yane lay near the Infiltrator. He fell heavily to his knees next to her, bent down to stroke her bright red hair.

Yane's eyes fluttered open, she smiled up at Maul. Maul returned the smile, kissed her cold lips. She reached up, caressed Maul's left cheek.

"Maul."

Yane's arm fell, the life dimmed from her eyes.

The only tears Maul had ever shed in his brutal life fell from pain-wracked eyes. He wrapped his arms around Yane's dead body, laid her head against his chest as he sat back against the hull of the Infiltrator. Each breath burning agony, Maul stroked Yane's silky red hair, waiting for death to come for him. In time it came, taking away his vision first, then ending his pain forever.
