Twigg Bridge, West Windsor
Vermont has many covered bridges.  Have you  ever  heard  of half  a bridge??   No..... well  that is exactly  what the Twigg bridge is.. originally the100 foot  trusses from the retired Garfield Bridge were cut in half and this bridge was constructed and a twin  bridge is in Pomfret  Vermont.
The view  through the  lattice work of the  bridge frames Mt Ascutney, a spectacular  view in all seasons.
Only  36  feet long, this one of the shorter  covered  bridges in Vermont, but  definately one of the nicer looking bridges.
The Twigg bridge was constructed in 1973.  Originally I created this  page September 5, 2001, I had just  found out about the bridge and it  was  one of my  favorites.  Unfortunately  this  bridge collapsed on October 6, 2001 during an extreme high wind storm.
The Twigg bridge is one of the privately owned bridges in Vermont and  handsomely  decorated with hanging plants.  The bridge is used as an entrance to a planned development.
