Ashuelot Bridge
As in most things in life we have favorites.   As far as covered bridges in New Hampshire I would have to say the Ashuelot Bridge is my all time favorite. Nestled on a  corner of  Route 119 in Winchester this bridge is lovely with its white lattice work and bright red roof.
This bridge located in Upper Ashuelot Village spans the Ashuelot River. Originally built in 1864, this  bridge is  one of the  more  elaborate covered bridges in the state.
To the side of the bridge is a granite marker cut in the shape of New Hampshire
The Ashuelot Bridge is 169 feet long and has sidewalks on both sides of the bridge.  There is a sign on both sides of the bridge that  states a $5.00 fine for anyone riding or driving over the bridge faster than a walk.  I wonder if it is enforced!
This is such a quaint setting, and so typically New England.  The original purpose of the bridge was to transport wood across the river for the Ashuelot Railroad.
