PJ was born on the 28th of October 1963 at Ireby, Lancashire. He enlisted into the Coldstream Guards on the 13th of January 1981 and began his basic training at the Guards Depot two weeks later.
On completion of his basic training he was posted to the 2nd Battalion in Fallingbostel, Germany. He served with the 2nd Battalion until February 1990, when he had a short respite until October 1991 with the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards on the AIMI in Munster.
He joined the 1st Battalion on completion of his attachment to the Grenadiers and in 1993 moved to the SNCO's Wing at the School of Infantry at Brecon. He returned to the 1st Battalion in October 1995 until 1999 when once again he returned to Brecon. In May 2001 he was appointed as the Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant at Regimental Headquarters in London.
During his career PJ served in a number of locations, notably, Germany, Northern Ireland, The Gulf, Canada, Cyprus and of course the "Forecourt" at Buckingham Palace.
PJ's forte was Recce, and he excelled in this field. He was well known throughout the Regiment as a firm but fair disciplinarian with a good sense of humour and zest for life. He was a keen Rugby player and put just as much energy into the game as he did in the bar afterwards.
He married Helen in May 1986 and they have two daughters Ashleigh and April, PJ was a devoted family man with high moral standards.
His lust for the outdoors could not be more obvious than with his love of the open roads and his motorbike. His untimely departure was a shock to everyone and he will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
