Circle K International Convention

Jamaica is one of the most beautiful countries that I've ever been to. And, with the help of the greatest service organization in the world, Circle K, I was able to attend the 1998 International Convention in Ocho Rios. Take a look at these images from "Oceans of Opportunity: CKI in Reggae Land"!

Turn Around: Sure, you prolly think "This isn't Jamaica". Well, it isn't. But I took this picture in Lambert Airport before I came, so it counts.

Swimming in Wonderland: This lovely overlook from the hotel lobby shows the pool I got to swim in for six days. There was a moel of Dunn's River Falls, a poolside bar, and a bridge right over it! Plus, great access to the beach.

Jaclynn and Credentials: The day after my arrival, I reported to my convention comittee. I was assigned to Credentials with the lovely Governor from the Southwest District, Jaclynn Bumback. She was a great boss, and the rest of her District is amazing too. You'll meet Selena a bit later, but here's a shout for Chris Z., Stacey, Jayme, and Dan. I love you all!

The Jamaican Shore: My first International Convention couldn't have been any more idyllic. thanks to a great I-Board to put this together, look where we got to spend part of our summer together! What a view!

Those Three. . .: We all have to eat, and the cuisine at the Jamaica Grande was first rate Caribbean. That's Theresa Egleston, Immediate Past Heartland LTG, Shane Sparks, Mo-Ark District Treasurer, and Natalie Eichor, President- MIZZOU Circle K stufing their faces! Enjoy it!

District Pride: World, Mo-Ark. Mo-Ark, world. First Row, L->R: Mary, Sherryl Brightwell, Becky Katz, Theresa Egleston, Emily Main. Second Row: Patrick Mooney, Chris, Natalie Eichor, Shane Sparks, Kurt Eisenbath.

Brian Oster and Theresa Eggleston: Jamaica isn't just beautiful. It's a place for beautiful people to share beautiful moments. And this is one of those beautiful moments between Brian, I-I Lieutenant Governor Division 4, and Theresa, Mo-Ark Immediate past Heartland Lieutenant Governor. And no, they aren't really THAT large. :)

Waterfall!!!: The biggest waterfall in Jamaica, Dunns River draws many tourists a year. And this year, it got numerous Circle K'ers from across the United States as well!

The Terrific Ten: This is the group of us that braved the water fall together. Back Row, L -> R: Shane Sparks, Patrick Mooney. Front Row, L -> R: Brian Oster, Sherryl Brightwell, Theresa Eggleston, two Capital girls, Emily Main.

In the Water: We made our way to the bottom to begin our ascent. This is us aftewe've just begun out journey. Front Row, L -> r: Capital Circle K'er, Selena Naumoff, Capital Circle K'er, Emily MAin, Sherryl Brightwell. Back Clump, L -> R: Patrick Mooney, Shane Sparks, Theresa Eggleston, Brian Oster, Natalie Eichor.

Jamaican Speed Bumps: On our trip to Dunn's River Falls, I happened to run into one of these. They call them "Sleeping Plicemen". Pretty smart, eh? You can find this sign not too far from them.

Onward: Mo-Ark District Treasurer Shane Spaks looks like a good piece of man anyway, but in this icture, he shows off his determination and spirit. Cool pose, huh?

A Girl and Her Donkey: Mo-Ark Immediate Past Heartland Lieutenant Governor Theresa Eggleston gets her kicks out of this donkey at Dunn's River Falls. The natives try to make money any posible way, and this happens to be a fun and interesting way to do it.

Follow the Leader: CAucus is always a highligth of convention since we get to elect officers for the upcoming year. This year, we got to "Follow Our Leaders", Administrator Krista Zizzo and International President Hugh Simmons as they showed off their dancing skills!

Hats Off to You!: Barb is a lovely past LTG from the Florida District, and at the Closing Session, she and I modeled the hats that we bought for $10 at the hotel. They're no longer green, but what a memory! Hand-crafted as well!

Selena and Patrick: I met Selena on the plane from Charlotte to Montego Bay, and we became fast friends when I discovered she was from Southwest, where both Chris Zock and ayme Sloan, past I-I Key Club Governors ended up. I like Selena. She's cool.

Oldies but Goodies: Jim Beck and Grace and Al Sullivan are the leadership of the District. We love them and were happy they could attend such a wonderful convention with a bunch of crazies like us. BTW, Jim just turned 30! Make him feel special!

Our Favorite Number. . .Six!:The six of us spent a lot of time together in Jamaica, and it's a good thing, because Brian lives in I-I and Sherryl moved back to Southwest. We are very separated, but it's still good to see us all together. Back Row: Brian Oster, Theresa Eggleston, Patrick Mooney. Front Row: Natalie Eichor, Sherryl Brightwell, Shane Sparks.

Briguy and the Gang: Brian Oster is the LTG of Division 4 of the I-I District. He is the only non-Mo-Arker in this people, which is explained by the sole fact that he hung out with us more than his own District! He and I are considering the gubernatorial seats in our respective divisions, so watch out!

If you have any more pictures for this beautiful page, please e-mail them to Patrick J., and they will be processed quickly. :)
