| Paul Kiel has developed a collection of Deaf satire cartoons. It reflected his experiences and other people's experiences with audism going on in his hometown and the stories that Paul collected from older deaf in other schools that were run by audists. There is one picture that can be seen on this website for feedback. There is another picture on his homepage. Feel free to click on the link on left side to see it. If you have any stories to tell about your experiences in hearing world or at Deaf schools where hearing people were bossy. Soap in mouth? Ruler hitting hands? Put into isolation room? Send them to [email protected]. His goal is to make between 60 to 100 drawings. He has 12 to date. He plans to plaster them on coffee mugs, posters, T-shirts and other products. He wants to turn bad experiences into some kind of humor to rib at those people who still practice audism. His drawings consist of the following - Deaf Child's Emergency Wiper, Scope for speech teacher instead of apples, flunking hearing test, reading lips, list of tools teachers used to punish children when they continue to sign, bus stop incident and among other satire cartoons. Like adage says, if life gives you lemons, make lemonade out of them! This is what Paul is doing to drawing satire cartoons to reflect the Deaf culture. Any ideas, feel free to send to Paul.
