"Hello?"

"Joey? Whatcha doin'?"

She winced at the sound of Jen's chirpy voice and pulled the blanket over her head, holding the phone between shoulder and chin. "I was dreaming."

"Sorry. Wanna go out with me and spend a perfectly nice day loitering aimlessly around the city? Got the day off."

"Jen, if there's ever an opening at that magazine you work for, you have to tell me."

Jen laughed. "Well? What'll it be?"

"Yes." She grunted. "Just let me get dressed."

"I'll be there in ten minutes." Jen replied cheerfully before hanging up.

She dragged herself out of bed and trudged to the kitchen for a glass of orange juice. Taking the drink with her, she walked to the living room and stood there, studying Pacey's things. He was out, of course. It was nearly lunch time, and he always left for work early. Which was just as well, because she had no idea what to say to him.

The night before had been a disaster. She had stood there after her admission, staring dumbly at him while he said that they couldn't sleep together, afraid to ask why. And he hadn't really explained, only mumbled some excuse and left. She actually didn't know if he even came back.

Shaking her head in disgust, she put her used glass in the sink and went to open the door just as Jen knocked.

"Hey," Jen greeted.

"Hey." Joey muttered unenthusiastically. Thinking about the night before made her want to put her hands around someone's neck and start wringing.

"Well, now I know what Pacey means when he talks about your being a morning person."

Joey made an annoyed sound and scowled.

Jen sighed, smiling. She sat on the couch and patted the space beside her, inviting Joey to sit. "Okay, what's going on?"

"He's such a jerk."

"Somehow I thought that wouldn't be the first thing you'd say about him after you guys came back from Capeside."

Joey raised an eyebrow. "You owe me for that, by the way." She flopped down beside Jen. "He moved back in."

"I figured. So, you guys…"

"No." Joey cut her off. "Almost."

"But you didn't."

"We didn't."

"Are you going to tell me why?"

"I… told him that I'm a virgin." Joey mumbled. When did being a virgin become a stigma, anyway?

Jen looked shocked. "Wow."

"Gee, thanks."

"No, really. Joey, this is - I don't know, I would never have guessed! I thought you and Finn - "

"I just didn't want to." She sighed. "It's actually what we argued about that night that Pacey and I…" She left the sentence unfinished. "Ironic, huh?"

"Why'd you argue about it?"

"He was just wondering… why. He thought that there was… something going on…"

"With you and Pacey." Jen finished for her. "Joey, it's great that you waited. Really. You should be proud of yourself."

"Then why do I feel like such a loser? I mean, God, Jen. I'm probably the only 22 year-old in this country who still hasn't had sex, and I'm starting to feel like a dried up prude! Pacey's reaction didn't help, either."

Jen nodded sympathetically. "He was just surprised, Joey."

"He's still a jerk." Joey stood up and resolved not to waste the day talking about him. "So, where are we going?"
