Conference Finals Set To Begin
The Stanley Cup Champion Flyers are rumored to have Jeremy Roenick and Tony Amonte on the trade block, as they look to get slightly younger.

The Red Wings are looking to trade defenseman to get draft picks, as they're overstacked at D at the moment.

The conference finals are ready to begin. After taking a 3 games to none lead over Detroit in the semis, Colorado needed a game 7 win on the road to advance to the next round against San Jose. Colorado held a 2-1 lead after the second period, before blowing it wide open with 3 goals in the third to take a 5-1 win.

The Sharks have been resting  after a 5 game series win over Dallas. San Jose has only played 9 games total in the first 2 rounds, compared to Colorado's 13. The Sharks should be plenty rested for the match with the Avs.

The Eastern Conference Final has been set. The Boston Bruins knocked off the defending champ Flyers in a 4 game sweep. Boston dominated the series, and closed it out with a 6-0 win in Philadelphia. The Bruins have 4 players in double digits in playoff points, while only playing 9 games.

Awaiting the Bruins, and holding home ice advantage, are the New Jersey Devils. These 2 teams tied for the regular season points lead, but the Presidents cup was awarded to NJ based on tie breakers, despite Bostons dominance over NJ  during the season. The Devils had a relatively easy second round as well, knocking out the New York Rangers in 5 games.

This should be a closely matched series, with the winner being the favorite for winning it all this season.

***BREAKING NEWS***
The Vancouver Canucks have made a major front office shuffle. GM Chad Ross has stepped aside, and the Canucks have named Eric Welsh as his replacement. The Canucks have been labelled underachievers the last 2 seasons, and while Ross maintains he was resigning, there has been some speculation league wide that the Canucks Board left him with no options, and that if he didnt resign, he would be fired. The Canucks were $20 million over budget, yet couldnt win in the playoffs, including a first round exit this season.

Detroit GM Mike Cribb was suprised and disappointed that Ross was leaving, commenting that Ross was one of the leagues best GM's. 'I'm sure that Chad will find another job awaiting him in the EHA, if he wants it' Cribb noted. 'At the same time, Welsh comes highly regarded, and I am sure Vancouver will continue to be a huge threat in the West'.

Canuck goalie Dan Cloutier, who many have claimed is the cause of the Canucks failures in the playoffs the last 2 seasons,  stated, 'I'm sorry to see Chad go. He was very well respected by the guys in the room, I wish him all the best.'

EHA insiders wonder whether Cloutier may be on the way out of Vancouver as well. Welsh has stated publicly that he intends to take at least 2 weeks to assess his team and go from there. "I will not be making any trades until I have accurately checked out my team and decided what direction to take with them,'  he stated in a news conference that announced his hiring. Sources have indicated that Welsh has already started offering contracts to players, and has released some staff members from their current contracts.
