EASTSIDE HOCKEY ALLIANCE RULEBOOK (Credit to Shakes for most of this) 1) Any form of cheating shall result in immediate removal from the organization. 2) When communicating with fellow GMs and league officials, be civil and courteous. 3) All EHA personnel must be at least 15 years of age. 4) All league personnel must have an active email address. 5) Use of AIM, ICQ, and/or MSN is encouraged. 6) We have an mIRC room. #EHA is the channel name, and it is located at server Starchat. All GMs must be active in the league's mIRC room. There is no set time limit per week, just be active. If you won't be active in the room, don't bother joining. 7) 3 game days will take place per sim. Simming will take place 6 days a week (We'll have Saturday's off). All GMs must consistently send in lines. Failure to do so will result in dismissal. 8) We do not allow the use of the players.ehm file. Please don't do it. You will get away with it for a while, but as soon as there is any suspicion, it will probably result in your dismissal. 9) Whenever there is a league-wide vote, which there most certainly will be every once in a while, all GMs are required to vote. Failure to vote will result in dismissal. 10) Trades- For a trade to go in it must be posted by both parties in the correct directory of the message board with the full player's name of any player in involved and exact information on any money of draft pick dealt. Then in must past inspection by the trade review board and then it will be processed into the game. The trades must be in the following format to pass: Team A posts: NYR gets: Mats Sundin, Tomas Kaberle, 2005 3rd rd pick, and $1 million. TOR gets: Eric Lindros, Tom Poti, 2005 1st rd pick. Team B posts: NYR gets: Mats Sundin, Tomas Kaberle, 2005 3rd rd pick, and $1 million. TOR gets: Eric Lindros, Tom Poti, 2005 1st rd pick. I confirm. That is how trades must be posted. 11) Rosters- You can have a maximum of 23 players in your pro roster (preseason is unlimited). You must have 4LW, 4RW, 4C, 6D, and 2G. The other 3 is up to you but you at least need 20. You dont have a max for your farm roster but it is recommended that the same amount at the positions above should be there The sim will sign an automatic contract if someone gets injured and you dont have the exact number at each postion on your roster. That player is usually old and has bad ratings. 12) Lines- You can only have a max of one line set on Hit and Grind. 13) Free Agency- There are two types of free agents Restricted (RFA) and Unrestricted (UFA). If a player is over 31 he is a listed as an UFA. They can accept any offer from any team they like. Anyone 31 and under is listed as a RFA. Some players will need qualifying offers to retain their rights. Teams who do have the rights have a chance to match any offer giving. Joe Sakic is a good example as the Rangers tried to sign him earlier in his career. Colorado matched the Rangers offer. Compensation for RFA's: OFFER Draft Choice(s) 400,000 or below - none over 400,000 to and including 550,000 - 3rd round over 550,000 to and including 650,000 - 2nd round over 650,000 to and including 800,000 - 1st round over 800,000 to and including 1.0 millon - 1st and 3rd round over 1.0 million to and including 1.2 million - 1st and 2nd round over 1.2 million to and including 1.4 million - 2 1st rounds over 1.4 million to and including 1.7 million - 2 1st rounds and a 2nd round over 1.7 million - 3 1st rounds each additional million additional 1st up to a max of 5 1st rounds 14) The most you can offer a Free Agent is 3 million over his wanted salary (not including the signing bonus). 15) Player Contracts- For all contracts including Free Agents the max number on years is 6. You offer a base salary and a signing bonus and send that to the player agent in your respective division. You also have 4 options you can add to a contract. Two way Contract: the player has a lesser salary when in the minors (T) No Trade Clause: you guarantee the player he wont be traded. (N) Player option: at the end of a player's contract, player has option to extend contract for 1 more year (PO) Team option: Same as players option except the team decides if they want to extend his contract. (TO) Staff- Each Pro and Farm team is assigned- 1 head coach, two assistant coaches, 1 General Manager, 2 phyiso, and 6 scouts. You can offer new contracts to any of them at any team also. You may also fire them and hire new one's or you can swap a farm staff member for a pro staff memeber or vise versa. The Pro staff does 99% of the action for the staff. 16) Waiver Draft- Before the regular season begins there is a waiver draft. Each GM must protect 2 goaltenders and 18 players. There are certain players that exempt from being taken in the waiver draft. If someone is taken then you must unprotect a player on your team. Waiver rules: - All players under 21 are not subjected to waivers. - Players aged 21 are subjected to waivers if they have played over 125 games. - Players aged 22 are subjected to waivers if they have played over 100 games - Players aged 23 are subjected to waivers if they have played over 75 games - Players aged 24 are subjected to waivers if they have played over 50 games. - All players over 24 are subjected to waivers regardless of games played. 17) Tickets Prices- There are 3 types of tickets. You can set the price for each type A-seat: max is $50 B-seat: max is $40 BOX-seat: max is $200 If you want to set your ticket prices then email the Commissioners with the subject line YOURTEAM: and then the ticket prices you want. 18) Entry Draft- After the season is over there is an entry draft that takes place. There are 5 rounds and the location of the draft is in the Mirc room. In the draft you can trade anything you want. This will be a 2 day event (probably weekend). The first 3 rounds will be on the first day and the last day will be the last 2 rounds. The time between picks will be determined at a different date. 19) Training- EHM allows you to create a custom training program to help your players increase their skills. You can adjust workloads on different areas of the training and so control on what the players practice in that program. If one area is left to none, the players skill will slide down slowly. It is not neccessary to do this manually. Workloads: None- Player does not practice this area at all Normal- Player has normal practice in this area Intensive- Player has more practice in this area (and get more tired) Areas of practice (applies to positions): Weights- Player gains Strength (All) Cycling- Player gains endurance (All) Skating- Player improves his skating (All) Puckhandling- Player gains stickhadling (D,L,C,R) Videos- Player gains positioning (D,L,C,R) Defense- Player gains checking (D,L,C,R) Goaltending- Player gains goaltending skills (G) You can also assign your staff to members to oversee the different areas of training. You can set training methods to both the pro and farm teams. 20) Scouting- It is easier to evaluate players if you know what thery are capable of. At first, you might notice that players in other teams dont have numerical values of their skills. That means you only know an approximation of their skills. To view numeric values and read the scouting report on a player, you need to scout him. This can be done by 3 means: 1) by scouting the team he is on. 2) by scouting the country where he is from (if hes not in the NHL) or 3) by adding him to your shortlist and assigning a scout on the shortlist. For the best effect your scouts must have the eye for talent. Some are good at evaluating goalies, some find good defensemen and other are good at finding top notch offensive talent. Good players don't only have a high potential but also a high consistency. Players with low consistency might take night-offs and may turn out to be busts while players with high consistency and low potential might work hard enough to develop better than expected. 21) Injuries- Injuries can happen to any player (including goaltenders). Some can be severe enough to retire a player from the EHA. 22) Hall Of Fame- After each season when players/GM retire, they have a chance to become of Hall of Fame members. Each GM will put together a list of 5-10 Hall of Fame inductees. They will need to be at 10% to become and stay elgible (3 votes) and then 2/3 (20 votes) of the league must say yes to have the player/GM to become a member of the Hall of Fame. This will take place after the Entry Draft every season. 23) World Championships- During January and April, the World Junior and World Championships will be held , respectfully. Players will automatically be selected for their nations. Players have the right to refuse to go for personal reasons. 24) Awards- Awards will be given at the end of the year to coaches, players, and teams. 25) The commishes will always be able to overrule the rules if special circumstances dictate it. 26) The final rule is to have fun and make friends. That's what this league is for. It's just a game.
