I Might Be Better Off Alone

With distance I removed myself from all the situations
Of my life given before me as I went on
Leaving all opportunites for love and fruition
Behind me
And I soon found that they were gone
And I thought:
I might be better off alone
I might be better off alone
When I see how I'm hurt by your lies I cannot condone
And I see that I might be better off alone
It didn't seem so bad to me as I grew older
Though with each year alone the nights drew colder
Through all the problems I avoided
And I went on and on on my own
And I thought:
I might be better off alone
I might be better off alone
When I see how I'm hurt by your lies I cannot condone
And I see that I might be better off alone
Suddenly I realized I caused all my own suffering
I couldn't change though I really wanted to so much
And then you came to me with such ease
And accepted me and soon we touched
With you all life is better
The sun shines with new warmth and grace
And when you hurt let me come to you
And I'll wipe the teardrops all from your face
