"PAUL J. DWYER was born June 12, 1979 in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, and has resided in St. John's for most of his life.

His mother, Elizabeth Barry, was a primary education teacher. His father, Don Dwyer, was a highschool teacher, but passed away due to cancer while still only in his thirties.

Paul's first serious bout with mental illness occurred in his last year at high school. He was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder. However, later he would be diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder -- the more emotional form of schizophrenia.

Paul began writing poetry in 1996 and acredits much of his survival and happinessdue to the expression of the internal that comes with poetry writing."
