highlight of my day at work, right here:
so im going door to door, like every other day, and it's going alright.
it's about 2pm, and as you know, it was a scorcher. pretty darn hot today,
around 100 degrees in hayward, where i was. anyway, i come across a door,
just like any other, and knock on it. a kid comes to the door, so i ask
for his father. the father then comes to the door, and i start with my
thing. im offering pizza today from pizza hut (by the way, if youre in the
bay area and wanna get in on a great pizza deal, let me know). so i get
through the introduction of my schpiel, and i ask him "sir, do you buy at
least one pizza a month" (because if he says no, my deal probably wont
help him). and in a very sarcastic, condescending tone, he says, "uhhh,
no." ok, that's fine with me. i get treated like crap at least 10 times a
day. so i begin to walk away from his door, and i say bye, when he stops
me by asking if i want some water. pleasantly surprised, i stop and say
sure, because it's really hot and some water sounds great. the man replies
by saying, "help yourself to the hose in the front of the house. you can
drink as much as you want." politely, i say "thanks" and walk away.
cool, eh? now, many a time, ive had the door shut on my face before i
could even finish one sentence. yeah, it sucks, but that's whatever,
because people are trying to get rid of me asap. but going out of your way
to make fun of me? it wasnt nice at all.
