this
seems to have been a point of controversy as of late. john nash doesnt
seem to be the hero portrayed in the movie. i havent seen "a beautiful
mind" (which should be titled "a beautiful wife"), so i dont know if Nash
comes out like Maximus or what, but i have seen biographical movies. and
none of them are 100% true. regardless of what happened, the main
character is portrayed the way the filmmakers wants them to be portrayed.
from the tragically heroic william wallace in "braveheart" to the fiery
"Malcolm X", the director and writer have control. but such is history.
it's in the eye of the beholder, and usually the version that stands is
the one with most power. anyway, getting back to "a beautiful mind." i
dont know why theyre making such a fuss about this movie in particular. i
mean, "black hawk down" melded real people into fictional characters, and
im pretty sure william wallace's son wasnt the future king of england.
but these are vehicles that help move the story along. love interests,
fictional characters, plot twists entertain or simplify the story. that's
the way movies work. so the only reason i can think of why "mind" is
getting this criticism is because there are player haters out there who
dont want it to win the oscar. it's fine with me if it doesnt, id rather
see LOTR win them all, but the criticism thrown its way is pretty dumb, i
think.
onto a different topic, but one also based on reality. to my surprise, i
got an email response from the fbi. not just another rejection, but the
guy actually wanted to talk to me. quite surprised i was. we'll see what
happens, though...what they have in mind for me. but im grateful
regardless...an opportunity is just that.
