dan the
sportswriter and i were talking about this the other day. he asked me what kind of wife would i like? one
who follows sports avidly or knows nothing or something in between there. i thought that was a very good
question, and the only criterion i need to marry someone. just kidding. speaking of dan, check out his

interesting
stuff, though the language is a little rough.
back to the question. i said at first that i would want
a wife who is an avid fan, one who knows about sports as much as your average guy, and who would
preferably like the same teams i do. but then we discussed it a little, and i changed my mind. i think it
would be better if my wife had an interest and willingness and to get into sports, but not know TOO much
(at least not more than me).
this way, when we watched, it could be a relationship building time for the both of us. as most people who
know me already know, i really like talking about things im enthusiastic about--most recently lord of the
rings. i probably talked TOO much about that. but i also enjoy baseball and other sports, and to share it
with my wife would be a nice, fun thing. we could do watch it from the comfort of our own home, or go to
games. either would be great. i dont consider sports so sacred that i can only watch sports with the
fellas, so that wouldnt be a problem. she wouldnt have to be cooking in the kitchen while the men sat
around watching the superbowl. if she cooked before, she could watch it with us :) just kidding.
