apologies. i was busy wednesday, and was unable to get one of these out. but here it is.

question. to what length does one go as a friend? does it mean always saying yes to those in need, even if we dont want to or we are busy? ok, maybe not when we are busy, but what if we dont want to? are we not showing love if we say no once in a while because we are feeling lazy? did Jesus ever say no to a friend because he simply didnt want to? just wondering...i guess ive been thinking about this lately, because, as many people know, i dont say no very often at all...and so, if i am one who never says no, because i am trying to be a good friend/servant, than what about those who ask for help often? are they taking advantage of my inability to say no? i dont know...but this doesnt mean that i will be saying no every time someone asks me for something. it's just something ive been thinking about lately. that's all.
onto a new subject. last night i was watching this show on abc called "politically incorrect." it's a panel show hosted by Bill Maher, who brings in 4 guests to discuss issues. last night was a special high school show, with three of the guests being high schoolers--2 girls and a guy. the fourth guest was the comedian adam corolla. anyway, the topic they were discussing was premarital sex, and one of the girls was a christian who supported abstinence. i felt bad for her because she was getting jacked from every side. not only were the two other high schoolers attacking her, but there was adam corolla (who's at least twice as old as the high schoolers) and bill maher the host (not a very nice man at all) attacking her as well. what's up with that? maybe high schoolers arguing something is alright, but i mean adults vs the kid as well? not fair at all. i am pretty sure most of the audience did not support her either, as they did not clap or cheer when she was talking about her beliefs. i have watched this show on multiple occasions, and every time there is an abstinence supporter, or a conservative, or a christian (usually all of the three in one person), they are alone. for adults, i feel that it is not as bad, but for high schoolers? come on. a bit unfair and overwhelming, i think. i guess bill doesn't care, though, because he's getting ratings by having people argue and attack each other, and everyone teaming up against the abstinence person is alright, because, you know, abstinence is just lame and wrong. oh well. i guess the girl did make the decision to go on the show, and if she didn't expect the abuse, shouldn't have gone...
this makes me wonder about myself. if i were in a high pressure situation, where i have to defend my beliefs, could i do it in an intelligent way? or would i just get buried like the poor girl? i don't know, because i haven't faced too much personal opposition against what i believe in. the way i see it, i dont even do that good of a job expressing myself to people who agree with me, so im probably in trouble against anyone with brains who disagrees with me. if the apostles, especially paul, are the paradigm of a Xian witness, i have a long ways to go.
