Miss Cowan's Teaching Philosophy

Philosophy of Education

I am currently in the process of formulating my philosophy on education. My beliefs and thoughts stem from my experiences teaching children and my experiences in elementary schools. I can state with certainty that I support theories created by Piaget and Vygotsky. I believe that children will construct their own knowledge and enhance their education with the guidance of a quality teacher. Children learn from their experiences in the environment surrounding them. Socialization is a key aspect of a child's education. Learning is acquired most when teaching is done individually; however, children need experiences working cooperatively as well as independently. I can assure that my philosophy will change and evolve as I gain more experience and knowledge of the teaching profession.
