three on light
 2003 by PJ Nights
i.the gospel
eyes close against sharp light
of a star that tells/knows too much
occluded
musicbox sun cues in the birds
one at a time, in ragtime overlappings
this unbroken moment held closer than a lover,
or im the one broken, add -gasm
to any word, it makes it about
sex
better, my flickergasm, shadowgasm
chick-a-dee-dee-dee-dee
closer
to what matters
ii. to go where the light is longer
fog slip shimmying into
no transformation
no bump into a hengestone
no jump to a valency where
you hear your own bones
still, you hear the distance
a blackbeach bonfire roasting;
breadfruit ripped apart, dipped in seawater
we're arranged like sugared fruit in a bowl,
ive played house
long enough, dear
iii.in the end
the same path i walk down
in search of contraries each time
something else
quantum differences or antediluvian
beginnings
wavelengths shorten into blues
a day, an hour, a ghosting
into long, long lengths of fall bittersweets
a cold stillness when
whites overwhelm
but at this latitude,
ill breathe again
go where the light is longer
