Street or Drive or Ocean
(mood for bright lemons)

 2003 by john e

...a spiritual urgency at the dark ladders leaping.
----Robert Duncan

Different ways to reduce:

Pick fruit from trees, sip wine constantly, scribble
and love under the volcano.

Cranberry tile, tangerine dream, cul-de-sac

Still often enough becomes too bright,
days in the mood for too bright
rewarded. Is that your heart,
ready to burst? Let it.

Reduce by insouciance,
professorial, of course.
Reduce by his love of
the smell of his sweat.

Things you hold dear
reduce to craving, pursuit,
pursuit of the next craving.
Even the beautiful things,
even us.

The groundhog abandoned his hole
last spring. You loved seeing
that cute little fellow.

Hold yourself up to light,
sideways. You are too thin,
a dustbunny, luminous like a storm
on a sea of poems.

Cranberry tile, tangerine dream, driven cloud
