Photograph of Two Hands Together

with their new wedding rings:

one hand with tightly knit fingers
as those of men
shaking hands
assured, resolute--
like the wing on an airliner;

and the other,
with fingers splayed out
as if wanting
to caress the invisible
to grasp it, steer it close--
like the rudder of God

taut and tender
their first flight together
