sunday drive
 2002 by john e
floating the backbeat of the freeway
prickling stars to come
behind devil-may-care
stuck-up shrubs
green winter conifers
tumbleweeds a blazin'
there's a low fence that's
hardly a fence at all
holds back animals only
in the freeing dark
you'd not see it at all
behind that
there's a sky blue house
where people sometimes live

light morning
 2002 by john e
let my listening be your words
surrender to silence
story me wandering pleasures
in still sunshine
of senses
it's just a bed
and these words
love to trail to silence
listen
~evening mood

your chiffon follows your body
and its curves are those of the clouds,
the hills; mountains
arch to your shoulders, breezes
soothe and snap
the fabric following
over you
you - the clouds, the mountains,
the dance of gauze -
buzz with a soft delight
such a simple poem
fast tiny beauties
tiptoe into the arms of sunset
