Rafters in Afternoon Tea

...the need to fuck or fuck up
everything beautiful...

---Dean Young

For what does it profit
charred vellum, burned hair,
what I ask you, what?
Let's get settled, hmm? handkerchief,
everyone have a ticket?

Comfy? The Recreation of the Great Fire
usually, and after that
oh maybe Auschwitz, Recreation
Of Fools, taking back life

I can't sit still long. My ass
reminds me I'm not in control.
Sure, we can have popcorn,
or better, tea, scope
the lead balloons as they go down.

If there's a roof here it must be high,
I can't see it. My dilemma,
held back by something
like a conclusion

Of Fools, taking back life
