I'm 21 years old, originally from Harare, Zimbabwe, but thankfully my family moved to Massachusetts when I was 16. Right now I'm a Psychology major at Stanford University, with writing as my mistress. My main concern in writing poetry is the craft of imagery, specifically using images to substitute for one another within a poem in order to achieve transcendent meaning. I'm also very anal about my line breaks. The three poems on this page are just about my most recent. They were written in workshop under the venerable gaze of my friend and wise teacher Gaby Calvocoressi. Heartfelt thanks to her and to my fellow workshop poets whose critiques were the perfect blend of keen and kind.
