Where's gromit when you need a beer
drinking stout
listening to richard thompson
vincent black lightning 1952
thinking about you
grating cheese
stirring sauce
the taste of your fingers
in my mouth
lingers
in memory
like james
i'm running out of time
out of breath
terse winter nights like this
i'll often sit alone
a warming beer
saltines
a wedge of strong cheddar
and remember
they way you would place
a small piece
on a cracker and feed it
to me as i worked
on my thesis
tom waits
thompson
john prine
voices in the background
are all i have left
except memories
of the taste of cheese
and you
