Unforgiven

Disclaimer: I'm getting kinda sick of writing these things. So how about this: No, I don't own anything. The Dawson in my story is nothing like the Dawson on the show (except for the fact that he annoys me), but Dawson Leery still belongs to the WB, Kevin, Paul and whoever else (I don't know exactly who owns all this!). Look... 4 simple words. 'Not mine. Don't sue.'

Author's note: This starts up after the season 3 finale. I must apologise to anyone who thinks what I'm doing to their little 'clique' is cruel. It probably is, but the point I'm trying to get across is that in real-life, people aren't that forgiving. Out of all the fights and break-ups with friends that I've had in the past year (five), I've only made up with one of those friends. Maybe I'm just stubborn, but the harsh reality is that not everyone would be happy to just forgive and forget about what someone did if that thing was estrange themselves from you for the past two summers. I just thought I'd clear up my reasons for what happens to them throughout my story.

Feedback: I love feedback! Please tell me what you think of my writing abilities. But I must say... as Nikki said - "Constructive critism only, please." Well... that and suggestions for what you believe should happen. Send all email to [email protected]

Part Four: The Truth, The Whole Truth and Nothing But The Truth

Joey put the bag on the coffee table, then propped her feet up beside it, knocking it down by accident.

Dawson bent over to pick it up, and Joey shut her eyes, nervously awaiting his reaction to the...

"Condoms?!" he asked accusingly. "So...." Dawson looked up at her.

"Dawson, please," she whispered.

"What did I expect from Pacey?" he asked bitterely.

"You can't say that you didn't believe we would do it, Dawson," Joey said.

"I figured that Pacey would try his best to seduce you, but I didn't think that you'd be weak enough to give in!"

'Weak?!?! Oh that was it! He was going to get it now!' Joey thought to herself.

"What do you mean by weak?! You make it sound like he raped me or something!" Joey screamed.

"Did he?" Dawson asked calmly, yet smugly.

"What?! How cn you say that?" she yelled back, outraged. "And even if he did, how would it be any different from what you did to Andie?"

"You know?" Dawson asked, worried.

"'fraid so, Dawson," she replied.

"But how?"

Joey didn't answer his question. Instead, she informed him that, "You, Dawson Leery, are the biggest hypocrite I have ever met! I want you to leave my house right now! You belong in the same place you sent my dad, and I never want to see you again!"

"How do I belong with your dad?" Dawson asked angrily.

"You raped her!!!" Joey screamed loud enough for everyone in Capeside to hear.

"But---" Dawson tried to pleed his case. Well, more like argue than pleed.

"No buts, Dawson," Joey said clearly. "You f**ked her while she was drunk, screaming 'Stop!' and 'No!' and other similar, simple, one-syllable words, and then you didn't say one word to her the next day. Or the next day, or the day after, or the... oh you get the point! How is that not rape?!"

Dawson was stunned. "How do you know all this?"

"Leave, Dawson," she replied as she opened the door.

"And if I don't?"

"Then you'll regret it even more than I regret ever meeting you."

This was exactly what she had needed to say. It made Dawson walk out without arguing, his tail between his legs.

Joey slammed the door before throwing herself onto the couch and bawling her eyes out.

Where was she and what happened to Capeside?

Joey swiped furiously at her eyes, trying to get rid of the tears.

"Ring-ring," the phone called out.

She stuffed her face into the cushion, letting the tears flow.

"Ring-ring."

She pushed her face further into the cushion, drenching it with the raging river which was actually her tears.

"Ring-ring."

She kicked the sofa which she was lying on with her left leg and rolled onto her back, still clutching the cushion, digging her nails in far enough to rip holes in it and release the stuffing any second.

The answering machine picked up. "Hi! You've reached the Potter B+B," Bessie's voice rang out cheerfully. "We can't reach the phone right now. Sorry for any inconvenience. Please leave a message and we'll get back to you as soon as humanly possible."

"Beeeeeeeeep!!!"

"Hi, I wish it was your voice on the answering machine," Pacey said sweetly. Then he changed his tone to just plain frustrated. "Jo! I know you're home! Why are you screening your calls?"

Joey smiled at his voice and jumped up, racing to the phone.

"Pacey! Hi!" Joey exclaimed happily, trying to hide the fact that she'd just been crying.

"Hey Jo! I missed you so much," he replied.

This caused a huge smile to spread across her face. "I missed you too," she said affectionately.

"Are you ok, Jo? Pacey asked. "You sound... weird."

Joey sniffled. "How could he do that?" she asked rhetorically, feeling the tears welling up all over again. "Why? I mean... to Andie?"

She suddenly felt the need to have his arms wrapped around her, stroking her hair, telling her that everything would be alright.

Out of nowhere, two strong hands gripped her around the waist.

He snapped his cellphone shut. "Hey Potter," he whispered in her ear.

"Pacey, what are you doing here?" she asked.

"What? A guy's not allowed to want to see his girlfriend?"

Joey finally turned around to face him and he saw her tears.

"What happened, Joey?"

"Dawson... well... he came around... he saw what was in the bag... he was furious, so I started yelling at him for... what he did to Andie."

"It'll be ok, Jo," Pacey said, pulling her into a tight hug.

This cheered her up a little. "So where'd you get the phone, Pace?"

"It's Doug's," he replied. "He left without it today, so I figured I'd suprise you."

"I was suprised," she admitted.

"Then my mission has been accomplished," he said, kissing her lightly. He looked around the room. "Where is everyone?"

"Oh. Bodie's at Leery's Fresh Fish and Bessie's taken Alex to the doctors."

"Is he ok?"

"Yeah. Just a cold."

"So we've got the whole place to ourselves?" Pacey asked a little too eagerly.

"Aren't you forgetting the guests?" she asked.

"They won't mind," he replied.

"Actually, they will."

"Oooooohhh!" Pacey groaned. "Are you saying that, because of where you live, I have to keep my hands off you?"

"Basically... yeah," she said, trying to hold back a smile. "We'll find time later," she whispered as she released herself from his grip. "Did you see our wall? Does it still have your message on it?"

"Uh... no, infact. It doesn't," he replied almost awkwardly.

"Yeah... I'd be kinda embarrassing if it did. But sweet."

"I guess," he muttered as he fidgeted with one of the buttons on his shirt.

Noticing his awkward behaviour, she asked, "What is on it, Pacey?"

"You don't want to know," he said, looking down.

"Sure I do."

"You'll probably want to look for yourself then," he said. "Yeah, 'course! We can go shopping for school supplies while we're down there!" Joey said as she ran towards her room. "Just let me get some money!"

She re-emerged from her room, counting out some money.

"There's enough here for us to go out for ice-cream afetrwards, Pace." Pacey sighed. Ice cream was going to be the last thing on her mind once she saw their wall.

Joey practically dragged a very reluctant Pacey across town, towards their wall.

Technically, it was no longer their wall. The lease had been up for two months, but what else were they going to call it? They weren't seriously going to say 'The wall on the upper end of Tepson's Street near the store.'

They turned the corner and Pacey winced, knowing exactly what Joey's reaction would be.

"Oh my god!"

Feedback, please! Seeing that I don't get paid for this, the feedback is what really makes it worth it. I've been loving what I've gotten so far, so please don't stop with the emails now!

So what do you think was on their wall?

You'll find out in Part Five. Promise!

Sorry, I'm not going to give you a spoiler this time. You'll have to be patient (not that I can talk!).

Let's just say that I'm not going to be completely cruel. You will find out what was on their wall. There'll also be a confrontation between Dawson and Pacey. Ooooeeeerrrr!

So check back soon. I won't take too long. I swear!
