VENDORS THAT ARE SIZE SPECIFIC
VENDORS THAT ARE NOT SIZE SPECIFIC AND/OR
Pizza prices, sizes, and toppings vary between vendors. This site will examine some variables.
Vendors that don't specify the diameter of a round pizza or the length and width of rectangular pizzas
should not be patronized until they do.
Pizza should be priced according to the actual surface area of the pizza & the amount of a particular
topping per square inch. The amount of a particular topping per square inch should remain the same
Round pizza area = 3.1416 x radius x radius. Square pizza area = width x length.

A fair price is whatever the buyer and seller agree on. Caveat Emptor
This site was created in response to the blizzard of shoddy junkmail flyers sent by the chain
pizzerias. I love pizza but I don't like to waste a half hour trying to decipher menus that are big on
graphics but short on specifics like inch dimensions and / or topping prices.Terms such as 'small,
medium, and large' are not size specific and neither are the number of slices in a pie, yet some of the
nationwide chains hold their customers in such contempt that they only specify the number of slices.
This site will maintain a list of local vendors that do or don't specify the diameter or length x width.
When I get a local flyer thru the mail the vendor will be listed according to the way size is specified.
These lists will rely only on the vendor's flyer.
Why not do the same for your neighbors on your website?
Vendors must clearly specify diameter or length and width of their pizzas.
Vendors who fail to do so will be placed in the non-specific list.

'Yes' the waiter said politely, 'how may I help you?' Well' I began to stammer, 'I thought your small
pizzas were much larger than this, just like on your flier'. 'Well' the waiter responded, 'actually we're
Just last Wednesday I got a flier in the mailbox from one of the large pizza chains and decided to give
it a go. I went in and sat down, and the waiter came over to my table and handed me a copy of the flier
and asked me 'would you like to order now?' 'Sure ', I answeared, 'I'll have a small eight-corner with
cheese, tomato sauce, and pepperoni and that free bottle of soda'. 'Fine ', he responded, that'll be
twenty dollars plus tax-makes it twentyone even. Will that be cash or credit?' 'Cash of course' I said
and paid him and got my receipt. I took a look around at the fixtures and other customers and noticed
that there weren't any large pizza or serving dishes on the tables, just some 4 inch saucers with little
pizzas on them."Hmmm', I thought, 'maybe their regular customers are being offered a a sample of a
new pizza today, and those cute little bottles must hold all of half a shot.' At about this time the
waiter came back from the kitchen with a large tray on his shoulder. 'Oh Boy' I thought. The waiter
reached my table and with a flourish placed an eight-corner pizza with cheese, tomato sauce, and
pepperoni on the table and began to return to the kitchen. 'Wait a minute!' I exclaimed. 'There's some-
thing wrong here. I ordered a small eight-cornered pizza and a bottle of soda!'. The waiter responded
'oh I'm so sorry sir, it's all my fault'. And then he reached down and placed half of the six by six pizza
back on the tray and whipped out a cutting wheel. He cut the remaining three by six pizza to create.
a small eight-corner pizza, put one of those cute little bottles of soda on the table and said 'there you
go', and turned to head for the kitchen. In shock by now I somehow managed to bleat out a tiny 'wait'.
And he placed the pizza on the flier and sure enough it was twice as large as the one on the flier.
having a special today and your pizza is twice as large as the one on the flier. Here, let me show you.'
'But waiter, I thought your small pizzas were at least ten inches by ten inches like all the other pizza
parlors' I whispered. 'Sir' the waiter answeared quietly, 'there is no inch measure stated on the menu.
You looked at our flier and asked for a small pizza just like the one on the flier, but because today is
Wednesday you've received a double portion. A huge ten inch by ten inch group party pizza with
cheese, tomato sauce, and pepperoni would be a special order but I can have the chef bake one up for
you if you like'. 'How much would that be?' I managed to squeak. 'Only ninetynineninetynine' he said
in anticipation, 'plus tax'. 'I think I'll wait until another day', I said, 'that double eight-sider has filled
me up to the brim and I didn't bring any other small change with me'. And so out the door, into my car
I'm so grateful for the double portion that I've decided to return every Wednesday for the special two
and down the road I drove. I sensed that something just wasn't right but couldn't quite figure it out.
