| Leveling up in the Eternal Moon Universe:
Each character will receive a number of story points at the end of every game session, side-quest, and sub-plot. There is a chart lower down that will show you approximately how many points a character will receive per session. Story points are used to increase the abilities, skills, powers, and statistics of your characters. Story points may also be used to modify old powers or buy new ones for your character. Character STATS: the usual character stats are as follows: body, mind, and soul. Each stat was chosen at the beginning of the game by the player, and will remain the same until story points are used to increase a stat to a higher point. To increase a stat higher than its current value, a player must spend a number of Story Points as equal to thrice the value of the new stat the player wishes their character to have. For instance, if a characters body stat if 5, and they wish to increase that value to a 6, the character must spend 18 points to increase the statistic. Stat points can only be increased one point between each gaming session, and can only be increased between gaming sessions. Character Skills and Human Powers: character may improve their human powers through story points by either buying new powers or improving the capabilities of old powers. Most of the time, a player can alter an existing human power by dropping its cost, increasing its effect, or increasing the amount of damage they would like a power to deal. To drop the cost of a power, the player must pay two points to drop the cost of the power by one. The cost of human powers may ONLY be dropped once between each gaming session. To increase the effectiveness or damage of a power, the actual information must be discussed with the CM. Character skills are actually not paid for as much as they are role-played. To gain a new skill, a player merely needs to role-play a couple playing sessions that they are attempting to learn a new skill. If the CM deems the character has not yet appeared to have properly learned the skill, he may choose not to yet add that skill to the characters profile. Character Transformation Powers: players may choose to either improve current powers or may buy new powers with Story Points. To buy a new power, the player has to decide what kind of effect they would like their new power to do. Power do not always do damage. Most of the powers in the game, although they may do some amount of damage, also have an additional effect that makes them must more useful to the character. Generally, the higher the effect the power does, the higher the level that the power will be. Below is a chart to gauge just how powerful a power is and just how high a level the power should be. (Power Levels begin at NA and will increase as more effects are added to a certain power. For instance, if the level of the new power is only at +1, then the overall level of the power goes from NA to level 0) -If a power only aids in the characters transportation and movement, the level of the power will usually be at +1 cost. The distance is also depending on the elemental type of the character. -If a power only restricts a targets movement, the level of the power increases by +1 -If a power completely stops a targets movement, the level of the power increases by +2 -If a power can completely dissipate an already existing direct-attack power, the level of the power increases by 1. -If the power can completely dissipate ANY already existing power, the level of the power increases by 2. -If the power adds a set amount of health, look at the damage chart below, and reduce the level by 1. That is the level that the healing power is at. For instance, a power that damages 2-3 damage would generally be a level 1 power. As a healing power, it would generally be level 0. -If the power deals only stamina damage, find the normal damage listed on the chart and reduce the level of the power by 1, similar to whats done in healing. For instance, if an attack would reduce the targets health by 2, it would generally be a level 1 power. If it only reduces stamina by 2, its either a level 0 power, or it really isnt a power at all (+ level) -If the power restores only stamina points, consult the damage chart to see how high of a level a power would normally be if it dealt that much damage, and reduce the level by 1. For instance, if an attack would deal 2 damage, it would generally be a level 1 power. If a power healed a target of 2 stamina, it would either be a level 0 power, or would nor be a power at all. (+ level) -If the power heals a variable amount of health, try to find the direct average, and use that level for the power. -If the power deals a variable amount of damage, try to find the direct average, and use that level for the power. -If the power removes the use of a random power from the target, the level of the power increases by . -If the power removes the use of a specific power from the target, the level of the power increases by 1. -If the power removes the use of all level X powers, the level of the power increases by 1. -If the power removes the use of all level X powers and below, the level of the power increases by 2 or more . -If the power removes the use of all attack powers, the level of the power increases by 2. -If the power removes the use of all X elemental powers, the level of the power increases by 3. -If the power removes the use of all healing and support powers, the level of the power increases by 2. -If the power increases the damage that any normal physical attack would deal, then the level of the power increases by each extra point of damage (plus one) that the attack would deal, to a maximum of +4. For instance, if a power would increase all physical attacks by one point of damage, then the level of the power could increase by 2. -If the power grants some form of protection, generally, the level of the power varies with the amount of damage it protects from, as well as the type of damage that is protected against. -If the shield created is only in front of the user, or is only a wall, then the level of the power increases by 1 . -If the shield created is a globe around the user, then the level of the power is +2 -If the shield created is a globe around another target, then the power is +2 -If the shield created ONLY protects against a single type of attack (physical, energy, psionic, etc.), then the level of the power is -If the shield has an added effect, like reflecting an attack back at the user, or harming those who come in contact with the shield, the level of the power is increased by 1 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If the power deals a certain amount of damage, the power will be of a level anywhere from 0-3, depending on how much damage the power will deal. -If the power deals 1 damage, the power will generally be level 0. If a level 0 power deals 2 damage, usually there must be some form of draw-back to the power, like it can only be used in certain circumstances. -If the power deals 2-3 damage, the power will generally be of level 1, . -If the power deals 4-6 damage, the power will generally be of level 2. -If the power deals 7-10 damage, the power will generally be of level 3. -Level 4 powers, although EXTREMELY rare, do exist in the game, but cannot be purchased using Story Points. These powers can only be assigned by the CM and only for outstanding achievement in the game, OR, as a plot-device. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -If a power can only be used under certain circumstances, then the level of the power is reduced by 1 -If the power can only be used once per day, then the level of the power is reduced by 2 -If the power can only be used with the aid of a special weapon or item, the level of the power is reduced by 1. To buy a new power, the player must spend a number of Story Points as is equal to 3 times the level of the power, +3. For instance, if a level 0 power was to be purchased, the player would have to spend 3 story points to get the power. For a level 1 power, the player would have to spend 6 story points, etc To alter an existing power, the player must work out the details of the alteration with the CM, and then spend a moderate amount of Story Points. ----------------------------------------------------------------- EARNING STORY POINTS: Character can earn story points a number of ways, but trying to earn more story points can actually get a little tricky.
