James Street Cafe

Nationally known for its jazz and New Orleans style cuisine, James Street continues to be the premier jazz hotspot in Pittsburgh. Established in 1987 and located on Pittsburghs historic North Side, James Street is home to talents like Roger Humphries, Dwayne Dolphin, Jimmy Ponder, and Rodney McCoysome of the best jazz performers in the city. And dont be surprised if you bump into other jazz musicians, singers, actors, sports figures and celebrities from near and far.

The kitchen at James Street serves up the finest authentic Creole and Cajun dishes north of the French Quarter. Reddened Catfish with Pecan sauce, Delta Crab cakes with Jack Daniels sauce, and of course, the Chicken and Shrimp Jambalaya are just a few house specialties to get your mouth watering. And the dessertswell, lets just say you might find yourself coming back just for the cheesecake, the Mississippi Mud Cake or maybe the Key Lime Pie.

The wait staff at James Street is top-notch, efficiently delivering your order and knowing what hospitality is all about: a great and memorable experience.

This New Orleans style jazz club boasts a warm and classy ambience that compliments the jazz and the jambalaya. The main, first floor dining room is open and spacious with its high ceiling, chandeliers, and ceiling fans; all the time maintaining its intimate and jazzy atmosphere. In fact, if youre seated close enough you could introduce yourself to one of the band members with a handshake! Now thats jazzy!

Youll also notice that the walls are ornamented with art and photographs of many well known celebrities and personalities who have frequented the club.

The grand, half-century old bar and the wood work that partitions it from the dining room are crafted from warm African mahogany. The bar stays stocked with a variety of wines, whiskeys, beers, and liquors.

Still more intimate to kick back, stay awhile and take in the jazz, is the downstairs dining room and bar. So cozy that just about any seat in the house is a good one.

Swing dancing anyone? James Street also sports a second floor ballroom where you can dance to the sounds of the Pittsburgh Banjo Club every Wednesday. The space is also available to host parties for any occasion.

How about a bite to eat before the ball game? PNC Park is a short leisurely walk awayabout 10 minutes.
