PA Top 5 Wide Receivers
  • Ian Firestone ( Wilson High, West Lawn )
  • At 6-foot-one, 190 pounds, and 4.3 speed Ian tops the list of PA receivers. He is listed as one of the top 15 best wide receivers in the nation according to Max Emfinger. Last season he recorded 1,300 yards receiving and earned All-State honors. It looks like Notre Dame has the inside track on Ian because he was an Irish fan growing up. Other schools include North Carolina, Miami, Virginia, Georgia Tech, PSU and Pitt. The Panthers chances of landing Ian look slim.

  • Maurice Stovall ( Archbishop Carrol HS, Radnor )
  • It wouldn't be difficult to argue for Maurice as the number one WR on the list, with size and speed (6'5 - 210 lbs - 4.35 forty time) he's got all the skills needed to excel at the next level. Tom Lemming of ESPN has compared Maurice with Randy Moss and Max Emfinger has him listed as one of the top 15 flankers in the nation. With more than 20 scholarship offers from major division one programs, Maurice is one of the most sought after WR in the nation. His favorites include Ohio State, UCLA, Miami, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Iowa. Pitt has a decent chance at getting Maurice even though it looks like Virginia is his current leader.

  • Josh Hannum ( Strath Haven HS, Upper Darby )
  • The University of Pittsburgh coaching staff was quick to recognize the talents of this next receiver, because they were the first to formerly offer Josh Hannum a scholarship. The six-foot-one inch, 170-pound wide receiver recorded more than 1,200 yards receiving last year, including 170 yards in a dominating performance at last years PA state championship game. Despite being double-teamed almost every game, Josh recorded 9 touchdowns, each going for an average of sixty yards. Those type of numbers earned Josh 1st-team All-State honors as a WR. He has recently named Pitt as one of five possible schools he will consider. The other schools include Notre Dame, PSU, Syracuse and Purdue. Josh will be visiting University of Pittsburgh sometime in early August, hopefully Tyler Palko will get a second target in this years recruiting class.
