The same can be said for our Department of Emergency Medicine.
Center for Emergency Medicine
The Center was originally formed in 1978 to bring the city of Pittsburgh and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine together to improve the quality and delivery of emergency medical services in Pittsburgh. Currently the Center provides medical direction for the City of Pittsburgh Bureau of EMS.  It is also a multi-hospital consortium dedicated to the advancement of emergency medicine through research, education, air medical transport and quality care. Currently, the Center's member hospitals include Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, Mercy Hospital, Shadyside Hospital, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, West Penn Hospital and Westmoreland Regional Hospital.
STAT Medevac
The largest civilian air ambulance service in the United States.  Based in Pittsburgh at the Center for Emergency Medicine.  Provides medical transport throughout the world.
