| Sigma Alpha Iota International Fraternity For Women Inc. was founded June 12, 1903 at the University of Michigan School of Music in Ann Arbor, Michigan to form chapters of music students and musicians who shall by their influence and their musical interest uphold the highest ideals fo a musical education. Sigma Alpha Iota's high ideals were established "when seven gifted young musicians solemnly pledged themselves to help each other with affection, stand for the highest possible musical scholarship, for nobility and uprightness of character and for the maintenance of friendly and unselfish relations among women in the musical profession." As of August 2000, Sigma Alpha Iota's membership included 189 active college chapters and 111 alumnae chapters through out the United States. |
| Kappa Kappa Psi was founded on November 27, 1919 to operate "primarily as a student service and leadership recognition society whose chief aim is to assist the Director of bands in developing the leadership and enthusiasm that is required" for his band. Kappa Kappa Psi's goal is to provide the band with service, and give its members experiences in leadership, organization, and social kindredship. The fraternity is presently located at over 150 colleges and universities. Since 1919 more than 50,000 bandsmen have devoted their efforts to strengthening their bands through individual and group service projects. |

Its aims are the advancement of music throughout the world, the promotion of music and scholarship, loyalty to the Alma Mater, and the development of a true bond of friendship. The fraternity composed of collegiate & alumni chapters, and allied members. The history of Mu Phi Epsilon dates from November 13, 1903. Today Mu Phi Epsilon has 128 collegiate chapters including two in the Phillippine Islands and one in Canada, 74 alumni chapters, and more than 75, 000 members. |

The fraternity was founded in 1909 at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music by three undergrad students.
