Pit-Fighter 2
Midway Arcade Treasures 2

In a bizarre twist, Mortal Kombat and Pit-Fighter no longer need the
Pit-Fighter vs. Mortal Kombat section to prove their uncanny similarities, because they've appeared in the same game! You heard it right, Midway has purchased the original Pit-Fighter license from Atari Games (along with others) and is including it in the arcade game collection Midway Arcade Treasures 2. This game bundle which sells at a low retail price of $20 has been released on the 3 big systems: Gamecube, PS2, and Xbox. All games in the compilation are emulated from the original ROMs, so we no longer have to play the crummy ports!

Midway Arcade Treasures 2

The list of titles appearing in this collection are: APB, Arch Rivals, Championship Sprint, Cyberball 2072, Gauntlet 2, Hard Drivin', Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, Mortal Kombat 3, NARC, Pit-Fighter, Primal Rage, Rampage World Tour, Spy Hunter 2, Steel Talons, STUN Runner, Timber, Total Carnage, Wizard of Wor, Xenophobe, and Xybots. It appears kind of odd that Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 won't be making an appearance on this disk, but at least we got our Pit-Fighter! Xbox Live will also work with this collection although unifortunately it will only be used to post high scores.

So as it seems we will finally be able to play the original Pit-Fighter arcade game at home without it being an extremely sheatay port OR breaking any piracy laws (i.e. Mame). Well that's the news for now, but we'll keep you up to date whenever new info is released!
