Autumn Woods
The sun's rays twinkle through the trees
The leaves cascade to the ground
The birds fly south for the sun's warmth
Nature breathes all around
The days slowly grow cold and short
The breeze grows stronger now
I spot a tree with a lazy limb
And I sit down upon its bough
I watch the squirrels gather food
To sustain them through the cold
And I marvel about these woods
So many centuries old
It's time for me to take my leave
But I'll return here one day
And I know in my heart it will be soon
As I turn--- and slowly walk away
