Well, this is what I have to work with. It's a 1986 Pontiac Firebird, 2.8 v6, 700-R4 tranny. Black is not it's original color. It was originally bright silver metallic and hawaiian orchid. The owner before me got it repainted (a bad job I might add too). I personally like black. One of the first thing I plan to do is get all the rust fixed and get it repainted. At last estimate, I had $900 worth of rust, with the worst being at the right rear quater panel. From what I hear, Third Generation (1982-1992) Camaro's and Firebirds had a problem with that.

I just love the way Firebirds look in the front. Especially with the parking lights on. That's how I drive it. One of my friends accidentally back into the passenger side of the front nose a few years ago. I got a new front nose paint job outta that deal. That's the newest paint on it.
The driver's side really isn't all that bad. There is a little bit of rust at the bottom-front corner of the door, some just under the molding in one spot, and a spot just above the rear tire. If you look closely at the center of the door, you can see places where the paint is coming off the molding. It is also chipping away around where the mirror attaches exposing some of the silver paint. Like I said, it was a bad job...

There is really not all that much wrong back here. There is a crack in the left taillight, and there is something that looks like a bubble above the left wing of the bird. Don't know what I can do about that yet.

This side is the bad side. right behind the rear tire is a huge amount of rust. That part has to be cut out and a new piece welded in. $$$ I can stick my hand, palm flat, into a hole on the underside of that, where my spare tire is. Wondered why my stickers in there were wet and crumbling...

Well, this is the powerhouse I have to work with. The mighty 2.8 Liter 173 c.i. Multi-Port Fuel Injected v6. I hope in the near future to have a home made cold-air set up with a nice size K&N conical filter on it. That back box in the center and the air filter housing on the left will be replaced with PVC pipe with the filter about where the old filter box is now.
