| Pit Bull 101 was created to fill a need for useful, relevant information on the American Pit Bull Terrier (aka Pit Bull) breed on the Internet. This site focuses on the breed's present and future as a companion and working dog partner. The goal here is to break misleading stereotypes, provide to the public sound information, and offer a new spin on the ownership, care, and training of this unique and wonderful breed. If you are looking for a website that can't get past the fighting history of this breed, or one that insists the only place for a Pit Bull is on the end of a chain, The Real Pit Bull isn't for you! | |||||||||||||
| Stance on Important Issues! Dog fighting: Dog Fighting Is NEVER OK! Whether it's done for "entertainment", "sport", to "preserve" the breed, or because the dogs "love" it, the brutality of dog fighting cannot be ignored--it is NEVER ok! Breeding: Pit Bull 101 promotes responsible rescue first and foremost, but also supports the ethical breeder. Remember, before you breed, do your homework! |

| APBT, AmStaff, Pit Bull? The American Pit Bull Terrier--APBT is a purebred dog, recognized as a breed and registered by the United Kennel Club, the second largest all-breed dog registry in the United States. The American Staffordshire Terrier--AmStaff is registered and recognized by the American Kennel Club. Any AmStaff can also be registered with the UKC under the name "American Pit Bull Terrier". As far as this site is concerned, APBTs and AmStaffs are the same breed behaviorally and historically. "Pit Bull" is used throughout this site as a nick name for a breed. It applies to APBTs or unregistered (eg. rescue/shelter) dogs believed to be APBTs. RPB does NOT promote the use of the term "Pit Bull" as slang, or to reference any breed other than the American PIT BULL Terrier. |
