Terror Squad (1988)

Cast:Chuck Connors, Brodie Greer, Kavi Raz,Ken Foree

After arab terrorists fail to blow up a nuclear power plant, they take refuge in a school, where they take the kids serving detention hostage, along the way the police chief (Connors) tries to get the kids out safely in this low budget but certainly worthwhile actioner.

Despite a no-name cast (Well except for maybe Foree)
Terror Squad emerges as quite an effective action flick which at times gets to be first rate, indeed the most interesting thing here is that the villains are much more human than usual. When they fail their mission, they don't set out to do more damage but rather to escape and it's made clear that they don't intend on hurting the kids in the movie but will if they have to, however things get out of hand and they themselves realize it. Indeed for a low budget actioner this one far exceeds expectations because like the critic on the cover says, it may echo Red Dawn and Invasion USA but Terror Squad is much better than either. If Terror Squad was poor in the action department this would be merely passable but due to some high energy action sequences, Terror Squad is a cut above most anything in the genre. D.Peter Maris***
