| Overkill (1996) Cast:Aaron Norris, Michael Nouri,Robert Miano Aaron Norris tries his hand at the action genre about 10 years too late in Overkill a painfully boring yet astonishingly amatuerish "Most Dangerous Game" rip off that has all the makings for a excellent camp classic but fails due to the deadly pace. Chuck Norris himself was never great, sure he did Breaker Breaker and starred in some of the funniest bad movies in the 80's but at least Norris had the intellegence to occasionally surround himself with people who can make a decent movie with well staged action, Aaron Norris however may indeed be talented in martial arts but the choreography itself is so poor and the action itself so uninspired it's no wonder why the movie stinks. As a Most Dangerous Game rip off it's about on par with Surviving The Game, which itself stunk to high heaven. However where as that one had a fun cast and actually had potentional to be enjoyable, Overkill from the credits you know exactly what kind've crap you're in for. Infact it goes without saying that all of Aaron Norris' movies he directed are generally superior to this garbage. Which says a lot considering that his best movie is Platoon Leader. Certainly it would help if Norris would actually become scared when being chased or perhaps it would help if the director would've put a formidable enemy in our hero's path but unforuntately this never transpires. All that does is an inept take on a genre that's been done to death already.D.Dean Ferrandini * |
