The Invasion (2007)

Cast:Norbert Weisser, Scott Paulin,Virgina Dare

A police officer driving his car drives around the backwoods when an alien invasion has taken place,  then after being affected by said virus, it's a girl on her prom night in the police car trying to escape from those infected and through out all we see is the point of view of the police car's camera in this ambitious but pretty lame sci-fi flick.

The biggest problem with
The Invasion is that it becomes far too repetitive and with the scenery of backwoods area does have some tension but there is only so much that can be done with such.   The movie also looks incredibly amatuerish and although this is the point,  the movie doesn't explain enough about why this invasion is going down,  why people can get affected by such and indeed this movie doesn't even have an attempt at having our hero or heroine fight back,  it's just an hour and ten of listening to a woman panic while the cop on the other side tries to comfort her.    Directed by Albert Pyun,  this is one of his better movies though I for one thought he could've used a kickboxing cyborg.   Mainly cause this movie is never scary,  only somewhat suspenseful and never exciting.   In fact this movie is meant to mock the Blair Witch Project (Which I hated.)  and this draws the same problems as that film.  Mainly not knowing why its happening,  not knowing about any of the characters or indeed about the villain.   The Invasion  is too short to really offend or bore anyone but let it be said the movie really doesn't work and the movie becomes repetitive fast.   In other words the movie needed more of Pyun's weirdness and instead he just rips off the concept of The War Of The  Worlds from 1953 and this  ends up not working in Pyun's favor.   What Pyun really needed was kickboxing cyborgs to break up the script's routine indifference to the situation we're supposed to be frightened about.  D.Albert Pyun**
