Dangerously Close (1986)

Cast:John Stockwell, Thom Mathews

A student probes the mysterious death of classmates and finds out that a group of students led by a vietnam vet is actually playing sadistic games with the local trouble makers of the school in this unbelievably lame movie which is all style and no story.

The problem with
Dangerously Close is that it's far too lethargic with how it tells the basic story, there is potentional for a far greater result than what is delivered here. Half of the time this feels like a MTV video with it's 80's synth soundtrack that only plunges this into self parody, plus the movie is bald on action as if they thought that anyone would buy such a lame premise without much action. However what really makes this movie repellent is it's brutal stalking scenes, where the "good teenagers" hunt the "bad teenagers" only to have a teacher kill the kid later, this is all pointless and it doesn't give a real reason for this plot thread. Indeed for a change Pyun's style works, but this is one of his worst. Even Cyborg was more better than this clunker. D.Albert Pyun *
