| The Hitman (1998) (Also known as The Contract Killer) Cast:Jet Li,Eric Tsang,Simon Yam,Gigi Leung Jet Li stars as a struggling assassin who accepts a mission to find the killer of a mobster and in return kill that man, meanwhile he also romances his mentor's daughter in this entertaining martial arts form which finds Jet Li in good form. Jet Li believe it or not used to actually make really good movies, well at least when he was still in Hong Kong and much before he started making awful fodder like The One. In this effort we have Li at his best and although a few moments are pretty trite, The Hitman usually hits the right notes most of the time. Jet Li however is what makes this think work because really the fightscenes are well choreographed and the movie works on it's own terms making it well worth a look for fans of Jet Li..
