| Boogie Boy (1997) Cast: Mark Dacascos,Emily Lloyd,Jaimz Woolvet,Frederic Forrest,Traci Lords, Joan Jett,James Lew Dreary and dull, this god-awful Mark Dacascos movie is bound to disappoint everyone of his fans, as he plays some kind of punk who has just got out of jail, and is looking for redemption, but he is forced into (yawn) one last drug deal, natuarally things go bad, and him and his drug addicted friend (Woolvet) hit the road to Detroit so Dacascos can join a Rock 'n' Roll band and get away from his violent life.. As far as actionstars go, Mark Dacascos is one of the more appealing, but the number one rule with Dacascos is to keep him in motion, but Boogie Boy casts Dacascos in a role Chow Yun-Fat would have excelled at, but unfortunately, Dacascos isn't CYF and his face muscles aren't up to the challenge of acting. Cheap melodrama and lame dialog make Boogie Boy a big loser that really should be avoided. And as far as drama goes, I can make it through numerous movies that have more talk then action, but the story must hold the intrest, and Boogie Boy doesn't, and therefore it's impossible to sit through the whole thing. Even Dacascos fans won't find anything worthwhile here. D. Craig Hamann 1/2* |
