| Angel Heart (1987) Cast:Mickey Rourke,Robert DeNiro,Lisa Bonet Mickey Rourke stars as a Harry Angel, a private eye who is hired by Louis Cypher (Robert DeNiro) to find a certain music star who has seemed to be missing for a long time, he also meets a woman who knows more then she is letting on, the closer he gets to the truth, the deeper he goes where he can lose everything including his soul. Angel Heart is just a terrific movie, plain and simple. Angel Heart is scary, intense,suspeseful and is an expierience that leaves you shocked and disturbed , never in the running time is there a wasted moment, and the movie is pretty flawless in the story telling department. Indeed, this is arguably Mickey Rourke's best movie and I for one, cannot agree, since I liked Johnny Handsome slightly better, but compared to junk Mickey Rourke would later go on to do, Angel Heart is somewhat of a modern classic, that scared a lot of people when it came out. The movie is effective in it's film-noir approach, and one is truly warned to stay away if your squeamish, but if you see movies as an art, and see good acting, suspense and great direction as an art, give your heart away to this one. However those who are sensitive to blood-letting are well advised to think twice as well as those who are looking for a movie to keep the little kiddies happy.. D.Alan Parker**** |
