12. CIA:Code Name Alexia *-Lorenzo Lamas' real claim to fame was appearing on Falcon Crest, however despite his prettyboy persona that didn't stop him from being an actionstar. Sure he made a few guilty pleasures (Snake Eater series) but his one chance of comeback came when this dud came out. See as it turned out O.J Simpson had just become famous for the murder of his wife, this movie became advertised everywhere on video and was on TV almost everyday. Let's just say that his sequel didn't do quite so well. And it's little reason to wonder why since this movie stunk to high heaven. 13.Moon 44 *1/2-Michael Pare made the mistake of turning down The Punisher for this a deadly dull space opera made by Roland Emmerich in his pre-Universal Soldier days. Pare who showed so much promise in Streets Of Fire and Philadelphia Experiment still makes credible straight to video movies but he's only managed bit parts in big movies. Big movies which were all failures (Village of the Damned, Hope Floats and Virgin Suicides) 14.Class Of 1999 II:The Substitute *1/2- Sasha Mitchell was the highest priced Van Damme replacement, after starring in the successful (In terms of rentals) Kickboxer series, Sasha seemed like a decent choice but then he disappeared, he was also on the Step By Step (Never saw that show) and his family problems hampered his career. Accused of beating his wife (Maybe he wasn't so unbelievable as Van Damme's brother) which was sold by his drug addicted wife to the tabloids, Sasha has gotten his personal life together as he has custody of his kids but his career hasn't. Although he was amusing in the ultimately forgettable Luck Of The Draw. 15.The Fighter *1/2-Olivier Gruner seemed to be poor man's Van Damme through out his career, but after wisely choosing to decline Nemesis 2 his career was starting to turn around, then he made this a victorian era kickboxing movie with Beastmaster Marc Singer. Of course this was a flop and he then went on to a career into oblivion. 16.Night Hunter *-For some reason Don "The Dragon" Wilson was making some solid films for PM, unfortunately PM who made some of the most explosive action movies of the 90's started falling apart and Don returned to Roger Corman with this. He has recently started making outside of Corman but these movies are even cheaper than Corman's usual products. This is where his career died. 17.Hawk's Vengeance *1/2-Gary Daniels had just gotten done making Rage and Fist Of The North Star, it seemed like he may have had potentional but for some reason he decided to take a movie Lorenzo Lamas turned down. This movie failed to do very well and it's easy to see why Daniel's movies got worse and worse after this. 18.Universal Soldier II:Brothers In Arms *-Poor Jeff Wincott, this has to be one actor who has bit parts in some of the most prolific movies (Prom Night and SWAT) yet can't get even get a starring role in a rip off sequel! Wincott's martial arts ability is certainly impressive but it's wasted on this dud which is sadly the guy's best selling straight to video movie to date. 19.Gale Force *-Treat Williams was a respectable actor at one time and he made for an enjoyable replacement for Tom Berenger and his Substitute:Failure Is Not An Option is such excellent fun that one can't believe he followed it up with this junk. Add in a talented cast (Michael Dudikoff, Tim Thomerson and Cliff De Young) 20.Virus *-After Stone Cold and One Man's Justice, Bosworth wasn't theatrical actionstar material but he was making generally decent B.movies with alright sized budgets but after this things got bad. Fast. Sure he's gotten a role in The Longest Yard and was good in Phase IV but let's face it his genre output after this has not been impressive. 21.Excessive Force *-Thomas Ian Griffith got his break in the dull Karate Kid Part 3 but after headlining the admittedly impressive Ulterior Motives he was given a theatrical shot at becoming an actionstar, of course the movie was a failure and rightfully so since it had no novel touches to set it apart. Griffith's career stayed in B.movie hell. |
