| Howdy Folks, I have a couple of special requests to ask of our Pathfinder Pistolero Shooters. Hopefully all are having a good summer shooting and visiting at Pathfinders and surrounding clubs. First - A couple of months ago Pathfinders sadly decided to cancel our Sportsman Days event due to the resignation of the organizer. As in the past several charities were scheduled to be the benefactors from different parts of this event. During our last meeting I proposed and it was unanimously carried, to allow the total funds collected during our October Pistolero shoot to be used to support the Oswego County DARE program. This money will be used to purchase tee shirts and support other areas that are drastically needed by this program. If you have been waiting to make another shoot or bring out a friend . This is the time. I hope to see a solid turn out for this event. Please add the date to your calendar 10/06/02 Registration starts at 8:30 AM and ends at 9:30 AM. Next - The following message is from: Annabelle Bransford Circle K Regulators Ballston Spa, NY As most of you are well aware, a few years back our CAS pard, Muleskinner (Mike Suits), was diagnosed with colon cancer. He was doing great and they were about ready to announce that he was in remission, when he went to the doctor for a routine check in August and was given some bad news. The cancer is back -- this time in the liver. His local doctor suggested he go to someone more specialized in treatment of this type of cancer, so he went to Sloan-Kettering in New York City for a consult. They suggested he have surgery to remove the affected node of the liver and then have something the size of a hockey puck implanted to deliver chemo directly into the liver for 6 months. Muleskinner is at Sloan-Kettering even as I type. He is having testing done today and tomorrow, has Thursday off, and will have surgery on Friday (assuming all goes well with the testing and such). Myrtle Wells (Dixie) is staying in NYC with their good pards, Flat Iron and English Bev, while all this is going on. Myrtle has promised to send me Muleskinner's hospital address and to keep me abreast of the situation there. I will forward you folks any info I get. Would appreciate your sharing with others as you deem appropriate. Another CAS pard, The Capgun Kid, has generously donated a very special gun cart to be raffled off with all proceeds going to Muleskinner to help defray the substantial out-of-pocket expenses he will undoubtedly incur above and beyond his medical insurance coverage. Sloan-Kettering and NYC oncologists are not cheap, so I'm sure any financial assistance would be sincerely appreciated. What we plan to do is to sell raffle tickets for $5 each. Rowdy and I will have tickets available at upcoming BHR (10/6), Bar 20 (10/12) and CKR (10/20) shoots and at the CKR meeting (10/9). If someone wants to take care of selling tickets at the upcoming D-D and Pathfinder Pistoleros shoots (which Rowdy and I can't attend), I could mail a bunch of tickets to a contact person -- just let me know. I can also snail mail tickets to folks as well if you let me know that you want one and won't be at any of the upcoming shoots. Checks should be made payable to Debbie Myers and mailed (with the completed tickets) to 8 Hidden Valley Lane, Ballston Lake, NY 12019, for receipt by no later than 10/17/02. I will convert everything over to one check when the time comes. We plan to raffle off the gun cart during lunch break at the 10/20/02 CKR shoot. You do not have to be present to win -- just make sure you print your name/address/phone number LEGIBLY on the raffle ticket that is turned in. The winner will have to pick up the gun cart from the CKR before the snow flies. The gun cart breaks down and will fit into a car the size of an Escort. It is valued at $275. It holds 3 long guns and is made with a real saddle and saddlebags on it. You can sit on the saddle or lift it up to find a storage compartment beneath it. The saddlebags are on the sides and are fully functional. Photos are available on request (I forgot to forward them to myself at my work address, so have them on my home PC.) Let's do what we can to help out our pard. And, above all, keep him in your thoughts and prayers. He's got a tough road ahead, but our love and support can help to see him through. UPDATE Howdy, folks! Well, I just thought I'd let you know that they've sweetened the pot for the Muleskinner Fund raffle. I got a call from George and Judy of G & J Leather last night. They have very generously offered to donate a $500 gift certificate good for any leather goods they make, up to and including a custom elephant rig! This is a heluva donation as they make top quality gun leather as most of you are well aware. The winner will be drawn from the same raffle tickets as the gun cart, so one ticket gets you a chance at 2 great prizes. Please let's help out our pard, Muleskinner. Skip one meal at McDonald's, and donate the money to a good cause while giving yourself an opportunity at some super prizes. And please -- spread the word to others who aren't on this email. Thanks! Annabelle Bransford Circle K Regulators Ballston Spa, NY Last - I will be contacting Annabelle Bransford to have tickets available at the next Pathfinder Pistoleros Shoot 10/6/02 please help support this worthy cause. Thank you in advance for your support of the above. This is a close knit group that I am proud to be apart of so let's do what we can to help out. Muleskinner (Mike Suits), has supported the Pathfinder Pistoleros and all Cowfolks that have shot with him. During this trying time please, keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks Buckshot Brad |
