| Neglige du matin |
| A Neglige du matin is a lady's dressing gown from the 18th century. It was worn over stays before a gown was put on to protect her clothing from hair powder and make-up during her toilette. It was also a way to cover up while conducting business or taking visitors during her toilette. Though many saw her wearing the garment in her boudoir, she was not seen wearing it in public. This is perfect for the re-enactor who's looking for something cool and period appropriate to wear during an event when just lounging around her boudoir or just getting up in the morning. Click on the picture above to see a close-up of the ruffled sleeve with hand-sewn rolled edges on the ruffles. Hand-finished gown: Price to be determined |
