I've got quite a collection of weird and fascinating people I've come across over the years. Here are some of my favorites.
We found this guy at the Haufbrau Haus in Munich. He was part of a group of guys sniffing some kind of brown powder off their hands. Probably not the best thing to do when drinking beer by the liter. My friend GirlErin took a picture of him; he looked up when the flash went off, and that's when I took my picture. He was even more attractive in person.
We were in the Paris Metro in November when I noticed this
older, distinguished-looking guy walking in front of us with his hand completely
down the back of his pants. We followed him for several minutes, and
since the hand didn't move, I talk a picture of him. Only later, when
I developed my pictures, did I notice the guy in the forefront that makes
this picture so interesting. Yes, that is a bottle of wine in the plastic
bag, and no, he isn't wearing shoes. It was about 45 degrees or so
outside, and although it was warmer in the Metro, it wasn't that
warm.
Another picture of the catwoman of Rome, because she was so
cool.
When we were at the Vatican, we had the good fortune to see
not only the Pope, but Jesus too! He was evangelizing in St. Peter's
Square along with his disciples. It was kinda cold that day, so he's
wearing a cardigan. I wanted to get my picture taken with him, but
none of my friends would do it. And I don't know if I could've gotten
my point across, seeing as how I don't speak Italian or Aramaic. Seeing
him almost made up for not finding any tacky pope souveniers, such as a
bobblehead pope or his smiling face on a t-shirt.
This is Chris, a Gypsy accordian player in
Aix. We saw him almost everyday. I named him Chris because he
looks like Chris Kattan if he'd spent 3 years on the streets. This
Chris had a family - a large wife and three little kids - that sat with all
their stuff on the steps of a nearby church while he played. Sometimes
he'd bring along his little sun and pimp him to the crowd. It was
impossible to say no to this little boy: he was about 6, dirty, scrawny,
sores around his mouth, and a mullet.
This is Gordon. He's a little Tibetan guy who volunteers
at the Posenboot. He graduated from Indiana University, worked with
Boeing in Seattle, moved to Copenhagen, and was, at the time we met him,
illegally working in Amsterdam. We talked to him for about an hour
on the cat boat, then went out for coffee. He's big into female pilots
and conspiracy theories. But not just any, no, not Gordon. He
was big on what really happened to Amelia Aerhart, and he thinks that
the Loch Ness monster isn't a one-time thing. He draws pictures of
female fighter pilots and women as cats, and he adds Nessie in the background
of each. Look him up if you're over there, he's very
interesting.
